Well it’s 2015 and not even all the way through January and things are crazy! There have been some ups and downs so far this year but nothing that cannot be overcome. So, to catch you up on what’s happened so far this year…
With 2014 drawing to a close, I’ve seen many people online posting about their New Year Resolutions. And I’ve seen just as many posting about how stupid making New Year Resolutions are. Personally, I like resolutions. Maybe I look at them differently than others, but I see them as goals you’re setting for the next year. And it’s good to have goals. To make a plan. So with that thought in mind, here are my 2015 goals:
The holidays are always nuts. Everyone is trying to decorate, finish shopping, bake things, send out cards… There seems to be no end! Now add having three kids that are in middle school and high school and in choir and/or theatre and/or band into that and you might understand why I’m ready for the holidays to be over. Here was my schedule over the past two weeks:
Dec 6 – stepdaughter’s choir concert
Dec 7 – stepson’s theatre performance
Dec 13 – stepson’s choir dinner theatre/carnival that took about six hours
Dec 15 – stepdaughter’s choir concert at one school, daughter’s choir concert at another school (hubby and I divided forces and attacked both)
Dec 16 – daughter’s band concert (which I’m about to leave for)
The fact that I haven’t started carrying a flask with me means I’m going to get extra goodies at Christmas, right Santa?
Ok, well I don’t really eat all the things – but man do I want to!
It’s always hard to eat healthy during the holidays – at least for me. I love to bake this time of year and I tend to make baked goods as gifts for family/friends for Christmas, so the whole “if it’s not in the house I won’t eat it” thing doesn’t really work. And my clients at work tend to bring me baked goods as gifts. I usually go through bouts of denying myself all the yummy stuff I want and then, when I eventually gave and eat it, I feel horribly guilty about it and undo anything good I have done.
Not this year. Read more…
You have found my little corner of the web. I’ve had several corners in the past, various sites, blogs, and portfolios where I’ve focused on the numerous things that excite me. It was exhausting to keep up with. So – I’m not going to anymore.
Instead I’m going to put everything in one spot. Maybe – if any of the various things I’m working on take on a more prominent role – I’ll narrow this site down to focus on only one subject. But for now you’re going to get a bit of everything (but hey at least it’ll be in nice, neat categories).
So if you’re interested in my thoughts on movies, games, and geek culture, or perhaps getting updates on my writing (one day I’ll finish this damn book), or even my weight loss journey and the ways I’m finding to live a healthier lifestyle, well then this is the place.
I invite you to hang out, sign up for updates, and read the randomness that comes from my head. You might find something you enjoy.
