Eat all the things!

Ok, well I don’t really eat all the things – but man do I want to!

It’s always hard to eat┬áhealthy during the holidays – at least for me. I love to bake this time of year and I tend to make baked goods as gifts for family/friends for Christmas, so the whole “if it’s not in the house I won’t eat it” thing doesn’t really work. And my clients at work tend to bring me baked goods as gifts. I usually go through bouts of denying myself all the yummy stuff I want and then, when I eventually gave and eat it, I feel horribly guilty about it and undo anything good I have done.

Not this year.

This year I’m taking a different stance on the “staying healthy during the holidays” struggle. This year, if I’m baking or if someone gives me candy/cookies/etc. as a gift, I will have some. I won’t eat ALL of it at once because usually one or two pieces and I’m good. If I haven’t been denying myself stuff anyway. So I’m not going to deny myself the holiday treats, I’m just going to moderate how much I have. And – the important part for me – I’m going to continue my workouts. I’ve gotten back on my DDPYoga routine and I’m going to stick to it, no matter what it is I’m eating. I’m horrible about letting one time falling off the wagon of working out lead to just not working out at all, so I’m going to keep that up regularly throughout the holidays so that when all the holiday treats are gone I’m already on the right path.

And to help me stay motivated I’m putting things up around the house! There’s a lovely lady on the DDPYoga Facebook group that does a calendar every month for your workouts. I have a copy on my fridge and my bathroom mirror. I have a DDPYoga necklace that should arrive sometime today that I’ll be wearing constantly (I’ll post a picture when it gets here!). I need visual reminders!

So that’s the plan. Keep up the workouts, taking my supplements, drinking my protein shakes in the morning before work, and eating as clean as I can. But when a party or gifts come around allowing myself to enjoy them. I may not lose weight during the holidays but I’ll be on the right path and enjoy it a lot more.
